China gets a new leader: so is democracy for every one?

So is it true that lack of democracy is bad for the Chinese people? This is a question i keep asking my self; there is a rumor that China is likely to overtake the US as a global leader by 2016! I wonder why the US then believes democracy is good for everyone. Now president Obama is going to visit Barma I hear because it has finally bowed to pressure to show that it is democratic. But the US seems to be the most democratic nation on earth, then i ask why are they the ones dragging the whole world down with the credit crunch and other social vices like gay marriage while China continues rushing forward economically, could there be something wrong with democracy that we have been so brain washed that we can't see? All i have been told since i started listening is that China oppresses its people that it has people who are so rich with billions while others live below a dollar a day, but recently i have come to learn that China has one of the best land reforms that even the poor of the poor have land.

I sit down and imagine how economically free i would be if i owned a piece of land. How many people in the US own land even with such an advanced democratic system of electro college and popular vote and etc is this system even democratic at all? I hear that a president can loose a popular vote but still win the election! And that's democracy! Now look at Libya, the country that was so rich and stable without democracy but now it has what seems like a civil war and gun wielding gangs that have turned many parts of the country war zones. Now i hear Britain is cutting aid from India because it has a space program, so the developed world just hates it when some one is equal or better than them they only like it when you share their evils like democracy and gay marriage. In Uganda we have democracy what good has it done for us, we had more industries under the known un democratic  leaders. India has democracy but these same democratic leaders chose space programs over feeding its people! so is democracy good for every one? Your guess is as good as mine.
